Thanks

Well everyone, if you didn't know, Phil is another JADE Kid.
Anyway, about Microsoft Agent...

I remember seeing it used on a web page before, and because JADE has that web thingy, maybe you could use that.
But as far as I know, I don't think that JADE is supposed to do that sort of thing, because it is a business program and not a speech recognition program, or whatever you are going to do with those walking characters across the screen.

Anyway, have a nice time with JADE Phil!

I'm thinking of using the ability to integrate web things into JADE. But I won't bother with the Speach Recognition. All I need to know is how to load and show a character in JADE and how to send it commands such as -

Merlin.Speak "Hello"
Merlin.Hide
etc.

Incorrect IMHO, just because Jade is aimed at a business market doesnt mean it shouldnt be able to interface to MS Agent. To Jade it should be no different to interfacing to other technologies like the MS XML parser, database tools like ADO, graphic libraries like DirectX, or the thousands of other COM interfaces out there.

I suspect all this will become much easier in Jade 5.1 when the COM support goes up by a big leap. Until then your only option is to build a VB/Delphi/C++ program that does what you want (there are lots of examples out there for these languages), and then make this available to Jade using an OCX, or external function calls through a DLL.

Yes! That sounds like a better idea. A bit awkward though.

A BIT awkward?? I've practically got is all done (I can easily move from VB to web). But isn't there any way I can use the WebInsert (or something like that) to do it. Agent can be programmed in VB and Java (I think). Is there a way I can use that? But then the question arises or how do I put my instance here (In the web code)?

Thanks anyways,
Philip

You obviously love the web, because there are a few things about JADE and the web.

As far as I know, you need Windows NT or 2000 to be able to serve your web application.
The next thing is that all the web* controls only work when your app is on the web.
A few features don't work on the web.

I don't actually see any point in putting something on the web because it loses so much of its ability.

What I was saying about the bit awkward thing was that you would need to create a little external dll for each function that you wanted to call (I think that is how it works).

What do you mean putting your instance here in web code anyway?
It sounds like you want to put your app on the web. Right?
