After getting the notifications working again for this site early last year, I've found them pretty useful in prompting me to have a look at new topics and replies being added.
However, I'm now on the verge of switching off the notifications, as I'm getting sick of being prompted to visit the site for the sake of spam messages being added in order to ensure I still get future notifications (as the email indicates I won't get any further notifications until I visit the forum).
After a quick search on the phpBB forums, it would seem there's some more up-to-date information about how to block spambots (https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... #p12961708). As part of which, they've highlighted the GD 3D CAPTCHA currently used by this forum has been broken by spambots. The post is from 2011, so further searching may find more recent solutions.
Can we please get some changes made to upgrade/change the forum setup, so it uses a more up-to-date approach to prevent spamming?
