Map Files

Could some one please point me to some official JADE documentation regarding moving a populated class from one map file to a new empty one.

I am aware of the thread discussing this process in this forum but would like to know if there is any published documentation regarding this as I do not want risk using an unsupported process on a production system.

In the event no such documentation exists, I would think defining where data is stored and changing that definition is a standard function in any modern database, so I do not understant why JADE should not have a published interface to support this. In my, albeit layman, opinion it seems like an obvious choice for inclusion into the .jcf syntax, and would hope that some time in the future it will be included.

Hi Michael,

While the current _moveObjects mechanism isn't in the PDF documentation, it *is* supported and has been used many times on large production systems.

If you require details on how to use _moveObjects, please contact JADE Support: jadesupport@jadeworld.com

New Feature Suggestions have been submitted asking for a GUI-driven utility to move objects between map files. This utility will be provided in a future release of JADE, at which time it will be included in the PDF documentation as well.

Dean.

Thanks alot for your prompt help Dean. I will contact the suggested email. Our system is JSM / Jade managed so I am sure they will be able to help further.

I look forward to this feature becoming GUI enabled as I imagine alot of others are aswell. Im sure there are alot of systems out there that were designed prior to people having a understanding of good map file usage that are really suffering from some hasty choices.

Thanks again.
