Thin Client Speed

We have installed a fat client running over a novell network. It takes about 2 minutes for the first of our forms to appear (the login form opened from getAndValidateUser ) Does anyone know what would cause this? Once the app is up and running the performance is almost a good as thin client. The install is Jade 5.0.12.

Are you running with local binaries or running your binaries off the network? Local binaries will significantly improve initial startup times.

Are you using a machine name or an IP address to make the connection?

If a machine name is it possibly the DNS resolution that is taking the time?
