JADE 7.0.03 Released

Postby Dino » Sat Oct 01, 2011 4:28 am

We are very happy to announce the general release of JADE 7, with JADE 7.0.03 available now on our web site:

http://www.jade.co.nz/jade/getjade.htm

JADE 7 highlights include:
  • Database performance enhancements including Direct I/O for faster transactions and data access.
  • Object Manager cache and lock optimisations allow you to run more processes in a node.
  • RPC optimisations for faster application server to database server communication.
  • Silverlight Thin Client and new RootSchema GUI classes to deliver rich browser-based UIs.
  • IDE auto-completion and editor macros save you lots of typing time.
  • Database File Encryption for stronger data security and protection.
  • .NET Class Library enhancements for easier integration with .NET systems. These enhancements also mean that JADE 7 and JOOB share the same .NET API.
  • IPv6 support ensures that your JADE 7 systems are IPv6 ready.
Earlier releases, if required, are available on the Archive page:

http://www.jade.co.nz/jade/archive.htm

And just a reminder that the JADE Release Schedule is always available here on our web site:

We look forward to hearing about your JADE 7 success stories!

Regards,
The JADE 7 Team.

I see you have changed back the "Find/replace" from "Cntrl + F" to "Shift + f3"

Is there any notes on this as to why it was changed again? I had a look at the release notes and can't find anything. I seem to remember the "Cntrl + F" was brought in to align it with most other programs.

I went to "Preferences" > "Editor key bindings" and tried to set "Cntrl + F" to Find/Replace but doesn't seem that Find/Replace is an option.

The binding you want is called "OpenFindReplace" as per my prior posting on this subject: https://forums.jadeworld.com/viewtopic. ... ings#p5840

I hadn't realised they had changed back to Shift+F3 again as I never stopped using that sequence after adding back a Shift+F3 binding to "OpenFindReplace". ;)

Cheers,
BeeJay.

Thanks for that BeeJay. I know if we ever changed a hot key in one of our releases that our users were using there would be quite a few angry emails coming our way!

Hi, can you expand on the database file encryption? Does this happen by default? If not how is this implemented as I can not find any details on it in the release notes.

Thanks,
Pete

Pete,

It's covered in Chapter 4 "Encrypting the JADE Database" in the JADE Database Administration Guide (DBAdmin.pdf)

Cheers,
BeeJay.

Thanks BeeJay. It seems my Jade7 documentation was actually Jade6.3 and was missing chapter 4. ;-)
