Well I would suggest a standard open source Forum such as getvanilla.com/ to allow developers to easily share code and knowledge, with all the modern features so you can easily see which discussions you haven't read, You can run advanced searches through discussion topics, comments, and users, have user profiles, proper logins, accounts, all of that useful stuff.

e.g.

codeguru.com/forum/

java-forums.org/

social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/csharpgeneral/threads/

forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=54

forum.csharp-online.net/

www.cplusplus.com/forum/

You raise 2 separate issues here ...
1. User accounts, tracking what you have read, searches are all tools of the software supporting the newsgroups
2. Developers sharing code and knowledge depends on the cooperation of the developers at lot more than the features supported by the newsgroup software.

These newsgroups allow you to either use a newsgroup reader of your choice or a generic web interface using a web browser. The newsgroup reader may provide the sort of features you probably want (it doesn't need any support from the Jade site for that). Using the web browser, you will notice that you can create a login on the 1st page, and if you do that and then login each time you visit, then you will see that the system does actually keep track of what you have read. The web interface also provide search of a newsgroup or all newsgroups.

So really all we need now is the sharing of code and knowledge. I note that I haven't seen any offering from 'Evil Genius' - perhaps that would be a good start?

Well I would suggest a standard open source Forum, I can't post links because this site thinks links equal spam.

Jade needs a forum to allow developers to easily share code and knowledge, with all the modern features so you can easily see which discussions you haven't read, You can run advanced searches through discussion topics, comments, and users, have user profiles, proper logins, accounts, all of that useful stuff.

I created 1 at jadeprogramming.com but it wasn't used enough to be worth the cost of the server so i took that down after about 6 months. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/jade is probably a good place to use. If you continue to use newsgroups you should try opera as your news reader.

There's lots of good newsreader clients. Isn't opera a web browser?
In fact I find user accounts with logins for forums to be tedious.

Yes, I had a look at jadeprogramming.com last year but there wasn't
much there at all.

The advantage with these Jade newsgroups is that they are attended
to by Jade staff, so you can get answers from "the horses mouth".

Murray.

I think you'll find these Newsgroups are much easier to use with a proper News client (I use Outlook Express), rather than thru the web interface.
