Painter control name limited

Hi,
When using painter in Jade 6.3, the free version, there seems to be a limit to the number of characters that can be used when naming a control. The documantation claims that the string is 30 long, but my version is limited to 16 characters. This has forced me to abbreviate names of controls where it would be preferable to have them the same length as names of properties in the matching class. Is this a limitation of the free version. Any help would be much appreciated.

Nick

No, it's not a limitation in the free version. Control names are limited to 16 characters to ensure that when method event names for the control are created (of the form <control name>_<event name>) they do not exceed the method name limit of 30 characters. The documentation for the Window::name property (EncycloWin.pdf manual in both JADE 6.2 and 6.3, about the 5th para) states this limitation.

Dean.
