Right-mouse should select item in a listbox

Standardise the behaviour of the listbox so that a right-mouse click on an item actually selects the item. Virtually all other listboxes in Windows do this.

Not doing this slows the user down. I'm sure we've all experienced having to left-click on a method in the class browser to select it, then right click on it to activate the context menu, then select the item from the menu with another click.

There are a number of things in Jade that aren't conformant to the windows standards or even consistent within Jade itself.

for example:-

One of my biggest peeves are the way the extract dialog clears out the text box as soon as you click the browse button. You should, of course be able to decide to browse then cancel the browse and not have your original dialog changed in any way.

Then theres the cut/copy/paste keys. The two sets of keys Ctrl/Shift-Ins/Del and Ctrl-Z/X/C/V are not supported consistently in Jade. For instance I always get caught out with Ctrl-C not working in the global constants window to cut.

The list control in "heirachy mode" is another one that doesn't suport windows conventions of '+', '-' and '*' keys to expand, collapse and recursivly expand/collapse respectfully.

And method|Print menu prints to the default windows printer (with not options to change it on a per print basis) instead of the printer defined for Jade. I was told this is "working as intended".

Its a real shame that these seemingly trivial things remain in the product. Its kind of like having a flash car in a dealership and not taking the time to wash off the bird poop

I think that JADE is trying to be too different from the rest (I got that alot from Arjan during training). Its just the little things that try to make them different from the rest of windows, like that HIDEOUS undo button in painter and the way that there is only 1 undo slot and just small things like that which lower my rpoductivity by having to learn the basics of using GUI again.

Philip, I think that most people here actually like using GUI's better than typing really fast (even though I can type at 55 wpm beat that!) and that hideous undo button in painter in my version (5.015) actually does more than one undo if you ever noticed. It is only in the method creator thing that there is only one undo.

I know that there is an upgrade, but I can't be bothered getting it right now.

I think JADE is the easiest and best programming language there is on this planet.
To prove it, remember how there are only 15 different commands to remember! Isn't that amazing??
And with everything they have, I can do just about anything.

15 commands doesn't make it easy (though it has its advantages). I've delt with programming language with only 5-10 commands. Its what built in what you have to remember. For a simple example the MsgBox function, although its a function, I know it is a comething which you can use. To use it you must remember the parameters and the command itself

A lot of "commands" in JadeScript are inherent in the JOM / IDE however. You never have to define an object in JadeScript for example. If you are going to compare JadeScript with other languages like Pascal, you should really be looking at the schema extract source.

Out of curiousity, how independent is JadeScript from the underlying database model? Has anyone in the Plant ever investigated putting another scripting engine on top of Jade i.e. VBScript?

VBScript is a whole new language. It doesn't support the JADE commands, the JADE inheritance, and anyway, what is it that JADE can't do already?

It would allow jade to be more easily incorporated into existing web apps.

I thought you meant add VBScript like JADEScript is already.

But you meant like a control which supports it.
Which you can put on Web Forms!
