Checking internet connection... on or off.

I have put up an exception handler for the ConnectionException class.
It works when the server I am connecting to does not exist.
But it doesn't work when you are not connected to the internet.

JADE just crashes.
So, is there a way to check if there is an internet connection present or not?

The cnHttp class in CardSchema does internet connections for you (using the wininet library). This saves some exception handling, as well as the connect/disconnect and read/write handshaking and HTTP protocol stuff. (note you need karma.dll too).

Cheers,
Rob

Well the thing is I want to write the complete program myself. I don't want to use any other program. If I do, then it will mean that I am not a very good programmer. I will not understand inside-out what is happening.

So how do I do it without some other program?

Well, it might mean that you're a better Software Engineer though... understanding inner workings is important, but you must also learn to build on what others have developed, and not fall into the "Not Invented Here" trap!

Just my 2 cents worth :-)

Craig.

Yes that is true. I should not try and reinvent the wheel. If I did it would be pretty easy though! (I hope!)

Someone who has done it before could provide training at a VERY competitive rate. Just call me with credit card details ;)
