Jade over wireless LAN

Does anyone have any experience with Jade over a wireless LAN? Good or bad experience?
Did the LAN connection drop out frequently?
Was it better or worse with different models of wireless kit etc?
How about distance? - I'm thinking about using it within an 20-30metre radius between floors, and an office environment?

Thanks for your help...

Peter

Hi Peter,
I have not had direct experience with wireless lans but have done investigations into the response of JADE (especially thin clients) under certain types of networks. The conclusion I have come to is that the latency of the network is more critical than the andwidth for normal data entry type operations (of course bandwidth is critical when downloading large cunks of data). Thin client apps are typically lot of short bursts of communications, so the round trip of the packets is important. **

The point I'm making is that the wireless network would suit well if it had a low latency (i.e. short ping times). I'm not up on these types of networks to know whether they are low latency or not.

Regards,
Allistar.

** An example is that I finf d our Jade thin client application to perform equally well over JetStream starter (128kb/s) as it does of JetStream because the latency of both connection types is comparable.
