Hi All
Just thought I would relate an experience that we had recently, which might well catch other JADE Developers out.
We had a system that used Word as an automation server from JADE. All was working well, with it generating Word documents as expected from JADE.
Then, we installed Norton Anti-virus on the server and the it all stopped working - responding with a 14088 exception - Create of the OLE Object Failed. Immediately after this, the AppServer would crash. This was very mysterious as I didn't immediately connect the NAV installation with the 14088 exception.
I reported the AppServer crash problem to JadeSupport and they issued a patch which resolved that problem, but still I got the 14088 exception. Finally, uninstalling NAV made it all work again.
Then I reinalled NAV and it again failed. Finally, I searched the web and found that it is a known problem with Word and NAV - Word as an automation server doesn't work when NAV is installed - fixed in Word 2002. There was a workaround though, to unistall the NAV plug-in to Word. Once I did this, it all worked fine.
So, the outcome was to find a bug in JADE, which is now fixed...
Hopefully this will help somebody else...
