Is there any detailed hash external function?

At first, I thought if I can understand the logic of hash, It might be possible to make the code on my own. And I realized that it is really time consuming. There might be external files I can include by calling external program from the node.
How do I use PBKDF2 ? any detailed steps or white paper in Jade documents?
