JADE For Linux

I know that porting means a lot of work, and that Linux doesn't have a majority market share yet, but are then any plans for JADE to be ported to Linux? Keeping track of different versions would be difficult I agree, but Jade 5 runs on AIX, and the differences between Unix implementations are fairly minor (with a few exceptions).

How about a version of JADE with the development environment, server, client and thin client capabilities that the Windows version has?

Comments from developers?

Thanks.

I agree that that is a great idea, but there is alot of work which has to be done to JADE to make it run in Linux. Nearly everything that JADE does (especially the fact that JADE was made in JADE) is to do with the Win32 system, which makes that wee but harder.

Nearly everything that JADE does (especially the fact that JADE was made in JADE) is to do with the Win32 system, which makes that wee but harder.

The JADE database server and application server nodes have been ported to AIX (an IBM variant of Unix). All the operating system specific code is contained in a single module called JOMOS, which is the main module that requires portation.

The GUI modules in JADE would require more work, but a winelib emulation could shortcut some effort.
