We are opening an MS Excel application from within Jade, but want to be sure that Excel is loaded on the client computer before attempting to open it. Presumably there is a way to check the registry or some way of detecting whether or not Excel is loaded.

I know Jade checks the registry for Acrobat Reader - but have no idea how they do it. I have also looked at "app.isActiveXClassIDRegistered" but have no idea how to find out what the "GUID" is, and am not sure if that is the right way to go or not anyway.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Pam

Have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;240794
which explains how to get the ClassId for Excel etc.
I can't think of any other way of doing this.
