Need to obtain access to data - USB

:
We have a Jade application running(thru the thin client) on a touch screen terminal to count items returned to our plant operations from our customers (linen items returned to be washed). We make the count and enter the count against the correct item. We would like to interface a "light frame" device to the client (win xp) and "pass" the linen items thru the light frame and get the count automatically. Each time the light frame is interrupted, a signal(count) would be sent to the Jade app. We have the hardware developed (connected to the client by usb). The device driver provides the "signal" for the count on serial port COM4. Does anyone know how to get the signal into the jade app? Possibly a DLL? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could import the Microsoft Comm Control (mscomm32.ocx) in Jade and use that. I've not actually tried this, but in theory it should work...

I think it comes with Windows but if not, it'll probably be part of the VB6 runtimes.
