Highlight of inactive folder tabs

When moving the mouse over inactive folder tabs, the tab is highlighted in yellow. Which is fine if the font is dark, eg Black. However if the font colour is light, eg White, this highlighted colour is too bright for the font to show. Does anyone know how to either turn this highlighted colour off or know how to set the highlighted colour to an alternative colour?

I usually set Folder.tabInactiveColor a couple of shades darker than Folder.tabActiveColor, with a black font colour.
This ensures that the mouse-over effect looks OK. We don't use a light coloured font such as white on a dark background.

In the Jade manual (EncycloWin.pdf) for tabInactiveColor it states:

"The tabs of folders and tables display a roll-over effect. Moving the mouse over an inactive sheet
tab causes the tab to be drawn using the Windows Info background color defined for the
workstation. "

You could create a skin for your folder and sheets, then you have complete control over the look and feel of the rolled-over versus up versus active state.

For example, in the following screen snap of one of our skins, the blue highlight colour indicates the currently active sheet. When the user mouses over a different folder tab we actually use the same graphics for the roll-over skin elements as we used for the active tab, as that was the look we wanted, but we could have used completely different skin elements for the roll-over highlighting versus the active tab highlighting.

If you're using a non-skinned folder, then as far as I'm aware there's no way to change the roll-over highlight colour, but I'm happy to be corrected if there is a way to change this colour.

Hope that helps,

As murray has pointed out, we currently use the Windows Info background color for inactive tab highlighting. However, a New Feature Suggestion has been opened for this issue, and is currently under consideration.

Hi BeeJay,

I've done exactly what you've suggested but with different colours and it's working 100%. Thanks for your help! I would've liked to have posted images of the final result for you to see but I still need to do a bit of work on the tab borders.

Cheers,
Mike
