The JADE product makes use of third party software, Java by Sun Microsystems Inc. The Java product has its own release schedule and supported lifetime for each release.
The Java 5.0 family was released in May 2004, and enters End of Life (EOL) phase in April 2008. In October 2009 it will become End of Service Life (EOSL).
Please see http://java.sun.com/products/archive/eol.policy.html for more details.
To ensure that the JADE product uses fully supported versions of third party software, the JADE 6.3 product will require that any needed Java software be at version 6.0 or greater. Also it is recommended (but not required) that version 6.0 of Java be used with JADE 6.2.16 or later.
This will affect the Portable GUI client and Java API.
This notice will appear in the JADE 6.2.15 Release Notes.
Regards,
The JADE Team.
