Presentation or Thin Clients

I am confused. I have seen that there is a presentation client and a Thin Client. I thought that the Thin Client was used for running JADE applications outside of the JADE Development Environment.
Then I came across the Presentation Client. It sounds like it does what the Thin Client does. Is that right?

Then Arjan told me that the Thin Client lets me access one of the JADE servers on the JADE network.

Now I am confused about what each does?

Presentation client and thin client are just different terms for the same thing. You might also have heard of an an app server referred to as a presentation server. We (well, us in the plant, anyway) tend to stick with the terms app server and thin client.

Sometimes presentation server and presentation client are used to refer generically to the outer two layers of a three-tier architecture. For example, if you're running a JADE app via the web then the web app is the presentation server and the browser is the presentation client. If you're running an app via the JADE Thin Client then the app server is the presentation server and the JADE Thin Client is the presentation client. IMHO, it's generally best to stick with the terms that make the actual configuration obvious (web app/browser and app server/thin client).
I thought that the Thin Client was used for running

Environment.

No. The JADE Thin Client can be used to run the development environment as well (remember that the development environment is itself a JADE application). There are many users who run an app server and thin clients for development as well as for their applications.

Dean.
